”I thought that creatives should have to find their own universe without any influence from other creatives on a similar field. Until today I think this is the way to do it in order to obtain a creative work. So I didn’t let Boris into my world. Fortunately, after some years I learned that Boris understood my point…”
Some/Things X No, No, Yes!
I had the chance to meet with these talented leather workers in Japan last year. Since then I’ve seen their business expand quite a bit to include special international collaborations. Above we have a ‘Shosa’ style laptop case that Some/Thing’s commissioned from No, No, Yes!
I had the opportunity to speak with Kristofer about these amazing shoes and he provided some great insight about the construction and theory behind the product.
Each of the models of the shoe is based off of the same design and features a hidden 3.5cm heel. This specific height was chosen to maintain the unisex aesthetic of the shoe as well to keep the heel subtly hidden.
The concept was to create a sneaker-boot hybrid that was fashionable but understated and easy to wear. As well it seems variability is a big factor here are many of the models are transformable. The higher version features a fold-able upper which creates a completely different silhouette from the regular shoe.
The shoes come in about nine different leathers ranging from horse, lam, buffalo to python. Each of the leathers lends a unique aesthetic to the shoe and will age very differently over time. The aging is probably what I’m most excited to see through the variety of leathers used.
The semi-suede lamb skin is very soft and malleable where as the horse leather is quite stiff and rigid. Kristofer describes the horse leather as ‘casual and luxurious’ where as the buffalo is ‘contemporary’ and finally the lamb skin is ‘more avant-garde and dark’
Overall I really love the concept and I feel like this is something I could wear every day. The simplicity and versatility of this piece really shine through, not to mention the sheer beauty held in the aesthetic of the item.

Kangaroo Leather Derbies
That toe construction is beyond words. Individual Sentiments has really struck a chord with me here. Through retaining their classic shape and introducing a few more avant-garde elements to the shoe they have really created something unlike anything else. I need these for the summer. Yes, need.
