How do you feel Obscur is progressing with this collection?

I think each collection should be a state of progress. I don’t think it’s possible to finger point actual progress events but I think that I am progressing in my mind and that’s the most important thing.

You’ve received a huge client base and now you’re breaking into the Japanese market, what’re your thoughts towards this?

I think the Japanese market is very important, but it’s also a very shifting market. Very much up and down, a lot of designers are sold based upon hype and marketing. Fortunately I am working with good people so I don’t think that will be a problem.

We’ve had quite a few female clients purchase your current collection, do you think you’ll ever push into designing female pieces?

Yes, however there isn’t enough time and money to do so at this stage. It’s also a state of mind, when designing I would like to focus on just one gender at a time. It’s difficult to shift back and forth between the two without disturbing each other. But it is without doubt something i am working towards.

Where will AW2010 be produced?

We will produce the leather items and more demanded/exclusive pieces in Sweden for AW10, this is to enable more control over the production as the factory is only a few hours away. Jerseys and knits are produced in Japan, and on occasion certain pieces are produced in Bulgaria when needed. SS11 At this stage will be produced in the same factories as AW10 as i have a lot more control over the end product.

When living far away from good and solid countries for production of clothes it is difficult to manage from a control perspective as my clothes deserve the utter most care in order to achieve what I want; it is necessary to be able to fully control the production. As a relatively small and young brand it is difficult to do so by myself, production in Sweden and Japan will be a break for the brand. We are really looking forward to this.

From next season you will start showing in your own space in Paris, what’re your plans?

I just want to be able to grab a more genuine atmosphere. Represent the collection how i feel it needs to be shown, you’ll have to wait and see!

What is your goal for obscur?

Someday to be 100% satisfied with my work. This is what i work towards every day in my design and every aspect of Obscur.

What’re your plans for growth in Obscur?

Only of recent have I found the correct channels to be able to produce the more basic and wearable collections. Afterall, basics and wearable pieces equals money. Money fuels better collections & gives me the means to take every aspect of Obscur to where i envision it being.

How do you feel Obscur is progressing with this collection?

I think each collection should be a state of progress. I don’t think it’s possible to finger point actual progress events but I think that I am progressing in my mind and that’s the most important thing.
